As part of our bankruptcy we are surrendering our house. We have not made a payment in 7 months. I called Countrywide to find out how to speed up the foreclosure process, do a deed in lieu, to get our name off the deed. They said due to the bankruptcy being discharged it has to go through a validation process. They said call back in a couple weeks!

March 18th, 2009Not much going on. We did have our bankruptcy lawyer let the bankruptcy trustee that we will be mving the end of March. If the bankruptcy estate is not sold, or the sale gets moved to April the buyers will need to pick up out of Florida, or she will need to arrange storage until the sale.
I found out the buyers only have 48 hours to pick up the purchased items from the bankruptcy sale after the purchase. So if it gets sold on the 23rd, it will be out of my hands by the 25th.
We are relocating it’s time for a fresh start
March 9th, 2009It looks like after 17 years we will be moving out of Florida, back to the midwest. My wife got a job offer, and it looks like it’s time to move on. It looks like a small apartment is the way we are going… not that we have a choice. Most of our personal property is going to the bankruptcy estate sale, and the few items I got to keep from my exemptions we will try to sell to get money to move. Plus we won’t have room for it in a small apartment.
Scheduled sale of bankruptcy estate items
March 6th, 2009Today we got a notification the trustee has scheduled the sale of our items surrendered in our bankruptcy. It is tentatively scheduled for March 23, but she may put it off until april 6 for some reason. I’ll be curious to see what happens. One thing I did find out is that it is a all or nothing sale. In otherwords different people won’t bid per item, one person has to buy everything.
The cars we surrendered will be sold individually and seperate from everything else.
Last day for claims against the chapter 7 bankruptcy estate
March 4th, 2009Yesterday was the last day for anyone to file a claim against the bankruptcy estate. I did see several of my creditors waited until the very last day. Not exactly why they would wait, as we were already discharged the end of January. One more thing out of the way.
